Ledger fishing in fresh water: the ideal feeders for this technique
Spring time, ledgering time. Freshwater ledgering fishing starts again at the end of March and the beginning of April. The beautiful days, the general awakening of nature and the end of the hibernation of carp and cyprinids, make this period one of the best of the year to undermine the typical holds of a technique originating in Great Britain.
Many flock along rivers, lakes and carp fisheries to do battle with beautiful carp, large crucians, tench, rudd and catfish. They choose to do it through an evolved variant of bottom fishing, which is called ledgering and takes place through the use of the feeder, called "feeder" in English. Today we will discover the ideal feeders for this technique, produced by Kolpo and available on Pescalccandi.
Cage Feeder Kolpo
The first feeder we present is a classic cage feeder, available in various sizes, with very open meshes that allow fishing on very shallow waters and provide for the almost immediate release of groundbait.
Kolpo cage feeders can be particularly useful in river fishing for prey that attacks the bait quickly. Or represent an ace up the sleeve in the pond, due to the explosion of groundbait that occurs in contact with the water.
The ledgering mount is quite simple to make, due to the silicone attachment connected to the basket. In fact, you just need to equip yourself with a swivel with carabiner, a stopper and another swivel to be complete.

Kolpo soap feeder for maggots
If you fish ledgering only with maggots, you need to change your approach and use a specific feeder for releasing the larvae. Kolpo has created block-end feeders in the shape of a bar of soap, which have holes designed specifically for this purpose. They are available in various sizes, with different weights.
The opening, located in the upper part, allows convenient loading of the larvae. Furthermore, as regards the ledgering setup, it is very simple: just connect the feeder to an anti-tangle and you're done. Kolpo maggot feeders are excellent on deep seabeds, for carp fisheries where the use of groundbait is prohibited, or any other fishing condition that requires the use of only blowfly larvae, i.e. maggots.
Kolpo floating feeder
In warm weather, fish tend to move on the surface. So instead of eating on the bottom, as often happens in ledgering fishing, the fish bites at the surface of the water. Kolpo has created floating feeders, to be used with groundbait, pellets and glued maggots.
The peculiarity is that it stays afloat and immediately releases the load of flour or larvae, generating an irresistible lure for carp, amur, catfish and other lurking prey. They are available in one size, and have two different colors at the conical ends.
They are already supplied with a swivel with carabiner, so the ledgering setup will not require any particular technical precautions, other than a 50/70 centimeter flourish and a swivel that will act as a shock absorber.
Kolpo Elastic Method Feeder
The latest recommended feeder from Kolpo is a specific model for a variant of ledgering recently introduced on the European scene. We are talking about the Kolpo Elastic Method Feeder, a dark red method, with internal elastic loop that acts as a shock absorber.
It is available in various weights and sizes which allow fishing both in carp fisheries and in natural lakes, where obviously the fish is used to this type of fishing. The setup for ledgering fishing with the Kolpo Elastic Method Feeder requires only a 10 centimeter terminal, which will hide the bait in the ball of groundbait and deceive the prey, enticed by a succulent morsel.
