Kolpo Poetico and Siciliar: characteristics and review

Pescalccacca has been distributing the Kolpo brand for years, a brand specialized in rods, reels, small parts and much more available on the site.
We recently tested two new reels from Kolpo in the field: Poetico and Siciliar, models designed for different fishing specialties, which will certainly be talked about for their excellent quality and reliability.

Kolpo Poetico - Main features

The Kolpo Poetico 15 reel is a particularly small tool, therefore it is a perfect match for light fishing such as ultralight spinning in streams, the trout area in a lake, trout fishing in streams with the remote control or Bolognese fishing in the sea and fresh water.

Its strong point is not only its small size, therefore its minimal weight. The Kolpo Poetico hides 8 high quality ball bearings inside its graphite body, which guarantee fluid recoveries, resistance and the right power during traction.
The front drag is very precise, therefore it allows millimetric adjustments which are very useful for precision fishing. It is equipped with an aluminum spool, larger tubular headband, anti-twist line roller and balanced rotor.
The recovery ratio is equal to 5.1:1, therefore for each complete turn of the crank 5 turns of monofilament are wound.

Fishing test and review of the Kolpo Poetico

The first impression you have of the Kolpo Poetico is the solidity, compactness and elegance of the reel. Its profile is very modern, well shaped and every detail is taken care of to the fullest.
It was spooled with 0.22 for fishing in the stream with the remote control and, during the operation, it did not show any problems in terms of coils, indeed they certainly appear to be arranged correctly, without burrs.

When casting, the Poetico performs well, with the spool ensuring the correct release of monofilament. Furthermore, the holes on the body allow the weight to be reduced, providing the right balance. The opening and closing of the headband is immediate, there are no squeaks or imperfections. The recovery of the monofilament and the prey is pleasant, continuous, there are no annoying oscillations or jolts.
Overall, the Kolpo Poetico is a great reel for light fishing with minimal equipment. Furthermore, its quality-price ratio is remarkable, so it becomes an additional factor that encourages purchase.

Kolpo Siciliar - Main features

The Kolpo Siciliar is a latest generation reel with a robust body and refined design, available in various sizes, designed for techniques such as Bolognese fishing, match fishing, ledgering, bottom fishing and, why not, also fishing from the boat (for size 60).

In the photo we present the updated version in the reel, lightened and strengthened for any fishing use. Furthermore, a particular compound has been applied to the generously sized line guide roller to increase its sturdiness and make it also suitable for the use of monofilaments and braided lines. It is equipped with 8 ball bearings, placed in the points where the greatest friction occurs due to compression during the recovery phase with large fish.
The anti-return is of the infinite type, the tubular bow is larger, in red. The clutch is micrometic, the rotor has been balanced on the computer and the recovery ratio stands at 4.9:1 (always around 5 turns of wire for each turn of the crank).
Even the eye wants its part, and the Kolpo Siciliar can boast a sober and elegant look, with combinations of red and black that give it a futuristic appearance. Finally, a particularly important detail for saltwater fishermen: the Kolpo Siciliar has been treated internally and externally against saltiness!

Fishing test and review of the Kolpo Siciliar

We tested the Kolpo Siciliar during a fishing session in the carpodrome, fishing with ledgering. For the occasion we mounted a 0.26 feeder monofilament. The spooling is practically perfect.

There are no signs of burrs in the positioning of the coils. These are then released immediately, so the risk of wigs is absolutely avoided. During the recovery of the wire there are no oscillations, therefore we can state that the balancing of the rotor was carried out perfectly. Opening and closing the headband is simple and very quick. During the recovery of the carp, the Siciliar behaves very well: it grinds meters of line and overcomes the resistance of the prey. Even using antireturn, the behavior does not change. A great reel for every fishing technique, with a fantastic quality/price ratio, a real ace up the sleeve for the Siciliar!
