How is English fishing done?
The English fishing technique is very widespread throughout the Italian peninsula, but many times basic errors are made that compromise the catch.
HOW TO CHOOSE THE ENGLISH ROD
Let's start with the English fishing rod , the best are the three-piece ones with sizes ranging from 3.90 m to 4.50 m, the ideal size for all situations is 4.20 m, this length allows you to fish easily with both fixed and sliding floats.
MAKING A LINE FOR MATCH FISHING
If the fishing distance is not considerable, around 20/30 m it is advisable to insert the float via the swivel directly onto the line, and block it with 3-4 soft split pellets size BB in the lower part, and 2-3 soft split pellets number 4-6 in the upper part of the float, I advise you to leave about 4 centimeters of space between the two bulks of pellets, this way of blocking the line has an advantage and a flaw, the advantage is that when fishing we will be directly, without attacks or swivels, connected to the fishing hook and the flaw is that the float will not be interchangeable, so if we wanted to change the weight we would have to make a new line.
If the fishing distance is greater I advise you to use a match fishing attachment which facilitates casting and allows you to force excessively without risking the float sliding on the fishing line.
At this point mount a good quality swivel, possibly rolling number 16-18 and at the end the end with the fishing hook with a terminal of at least 35-40 cm.
Lock the fishing hook on the reel and move the dots holding the English float to the chosen fishing depth, at this point just insert a number 6/4 dot approximately 45 cm above the swivel and two other number 2 dots /4 to 60 cm above it.
With this type of English fishing line the possibilities of braiding during the cast are truly remote. Once the cast has been made, we must block the exit of the line from the reel with our finger near the arrival of the line in the water, in this way the line will extend perfectly and will begin to work in the descent.
HOW TO SINK AN ENGLISH THREAD
A good habit is to sink the fishing line in the English style which due to its characteristics will already be sinking, with a simple low dry half ferrata, this movement will allow you to perfectly lay the line in the water with the consequent sinking of the line.
