Bolognese fishing in the sea: the best floats for the look
Bolognese fishing at sea is a technique that knows no boundaries of application. It can be practiced from the cliff, in the port, from the beach, in the canal mouth, so it is a specialty that we could define as "multitasking". In addition to boasting a versatility of use in various environmental conditions, fishing with the Bolognese can offer catching opportunities for multiple species such as sea bass, sea bream, mullet, boghe, salps and, why not, bream.
Yes, precisely the looks, nice prey that appear between the end of winter and the beginning of spring, frequenting the cliffs and harbor entrances in large flocks. We are therefore in the most suitable moment to try to undermine them with Bolognese fishing, to be practiced obviously with a series of tips contained in the following lines.
How to fish in Bologna
Fishing with the Bolognese rod is very practical and accessible to everyone. Glance fishing is even more so: the small predator usually grazes in mid-water, therefore particularly long and heavy tools are not required. Fishing for Bolognese glacier is in fact possible using a 5 or 6 meter high resistance carbon Bolognese rod and a 2500/3000 size reel.
No need for long rods or powerful reels. The fishing action takes place standing or comfortably sitting on a bench. The best sea conditions are certainly after a good swell, or slightly rough or cloudy seas. The most suitable months for fishing for bream with the Bolognese, as mentioned before, are the end of winter, spring and autumn, with the change of season turning towards the cold.
The best floats for fishing at a glance
A fundamental element for glace fishing is the float. The bite alarm must be chosen based on the distance at which to cast, where in practice it is assumed that the glancing school is active or where it has already baited (or perhaps is already baiting). There are different types of floats for spot fishing with the Bolognese rod. The Kolpo brand distributed by Pescalacca offers various models of various shapes:
- Blanca Kolpo starlite holder fishing floats
- Vinc Kolpo starlite holder pass-through fishing floats
- Alma Kolpo starlite holder fishing floats
- Celia Kolpo starlite holder fishing floats
Floats with a more tapered shape are great for rough, curly sea conditions and in the presence of wind. On the other hand, floats with a teardrop shape perform best in calm sea conditions, typical of port environments or hot summer days. The presence of a starlight holder is almost essential: the orange antenna allows you to view the float even from a long distance away; Furthermore, during night fishing, the antenna must be replaced by a starlight which will allow the activity to continue even in conditions of absent or poor light.
All the Kolpo models in the photo, available on Pescalacca, have a starlight holder measuring 4.5 mm, which is the standard size of starlights on the market.
Mount for Bolognese fishing
A good setup for fishing for bream must be simple, with few but well distributed pellets. This is one of the tricks for spot fishing with Bolognese. The glace is a predator belonging to the Sparid family, with a flattened body and very large eyes. It also reaches 15-20 centimeters, up to half a kilo, therefore it is a predator capable of attacking bait presented on medium-short terminals, very firm, almost immobile.
Hence the need to build a line with 2.5/3 gram floats, a single torpille to calibrate the flow rate of the float or a 2 gram torpille and the rest with contour pellets in a maximum of 10 centimeters of line. To continue, the setup will also include a swivel and a 70/80 centimeter flutter of 0.12/0.14, armed with a short shank No. 10 hook, on which we will bait two or three flag maggots.
The last trick for fishing for Bolognese glacier lies in the depth of the line: the prey are rarely found on the bottom, but more often they move on the surface of the water or in mid-water. The float, therefore, must be positioned 2, maximum 3 meters from the hook, obviously fishing on seabeds of 4/6 meters in total, which represent a common solution for all reefs or port entrances.
